Homemade Basil Oil

There’s nothing better than dipping fresh baguette into homemade basil oil with a pinch of coarse salt. Or how about a delicious Italian salad with basil oil as a dressing? It may sound complicated, but this tasty oil is actually very easy to make.
Ingredients:
-
400 ml olive oil
-
30 g basil leaves
Instructions:
Remove the stems from the basil so that you have about 30 grams of leaves left. Place the olive oil and basil in a food processor and blend until smooth. Gently bring the mixture to a boil in a small saucepan and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
To get a nice clear oil, it’s important to strain the mixture. Make sure the oil has cooled before you start. Use a very fine sieve, muslin cloth, or cheesecloth. Stretch it over a bowl and pour the mixture through. Is the oil still a bit cloudy? Feel free to strain it a few more times. Then pour the basil oil into a sterilized bottle or jar. Enjoy!
Tip: Store it in a dark place or bottle to keep the oil fresh for longer!
